Deed

This has been prepared for notaries about the laws governing their duties and is not intended as legal advice. For additional information or for difficult situations, it may be advisable for you to seek the advice of a licensed attorney.

A deed must be acknowledged by the Grantor and notarized by a notary.  A deed also requires two witnesses in Florida. In Florida, the notary who notarizes the deed may act as one of the witnesses.  In this case, the notary public signs the document twice, once in the witness block and second in the notary block, as the notary public.  A second witness will still be required to sign in the second witness block.
